Imagine responding to a recruiting agency’s advertisement to procure employees for seasonal work in the United States, and within 7 hours of landing you are taken to a brothel and servicing your first customer. It was Shandra Woworuntu, a banker in desperation trying to survive Indonesia’s 1998 financial crisis who answered that ad. Human trafficking is often thought to be a problem 3rd world or under-developed countries deal with, however it exists in the suburbs and quiet neighborhoods across the world as well. Woworuntu shares her story and escape along with her appointment as consult on human trafficking to the presidental task force by President Obama.
