2020 has been a whirlwind year. With all that has transpired, I am grateful and proud to have opened a new chapter in my life.
Born out of my desire to teach and educate others, Quite Franklin has been several months in the making.
The current pandemic has given me an opportunity to contemplate new goals and Quite Franklin is one of them.
Beyond my day job as a travel show host for ONE Warrior Series, I enjoy being an ambassador for martial arts on this side of the planet. It has allowed me to share my knowledge with others, all the while soaking in as much experience as I can.
Though the team and I initially explored ideas about a podcast, it never quite got off the ground due to how busy we were.
Once the pandemic put the travel show on indefinite hold, we decided to focus our efforts into creating this podcast.
It turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
Officially launched in April, Franklin Speaking was a success. The guests were entertaining, the production was flawless and in the process, we had a lot of fun bringing this project to fruition.
More importantly, the justification for creating a podcast had less to do with not wasting our time away but more about making a difference.
As a man of faith, I believe in living a life with a purpose greater than self. Long after I’m gone, I hope to have made a positive impact on others. That no matter the significance of my contribution, I would have left this world a better place than when I first arrived.
On one episode of Franklin Speaking, I had the chance to speak with Angie Mead King – a transgender Filipino. Despite how vastly different we appeared to be, we broke bread and found common ground rather quickly.
We shared a love for muscle cars, martial arts and the environment. This particular episode afforded me a glimpse of what it truly meant to celebrate our differences as much as we embrace our similarities.
Encouraged by my positive experiences on Franklin Speaking, I’ve decided to continue this podcast in a personal capacity.
So this is how Quite Franklin came to be.
My goal is for this second iteration of the podcast to evolve into a forum and generate healthy discussions on a wide variety of topics.
In the current climate of misinformation and polarizing opinions, I see a chance for this podcast to be a bridge to connect with others.
To show the world that we can agree to disagree but still uphold and respect each other’s civil liberties and rights.
Lastly, I hope for all our listeners to come away entertained, leave each episode with fresh perspectives and to return for more.
